RUN THE GAUNTLET

THESE RULES ARE IN EFFECT AS OF 1-1-2007

How hard do you think it is to win 10 straight games in Strat-O-Matic Football.

Well here is your chance to find out……………….

1.                          To become a Gauntlet Runner, start by sending an email to Vic, vartibey@socal.rr.com  AND myself  brownsbacker1@sbcglobal.net

                 The eMail should include:

a.      The TEAM you want to Run the Gauntlet WITH ( only teams with a record between 4-12 and 13-3 record (4-10 and 12-2 for 14 game seasons) ) are eligible

b.      A list of ALL seasons owned ( you must have a minimum of 3 seasons owned to be eligible for Run the Gauntlet ).

2.                          TEN random opponents will be generated as your ‘Gauntlet’ opponents.  These 10 random opponents will all be within 3 wins under and 2 wins over of the team you selected to run the gauntlet.   Teams from each ‘record grouping’ will make up the 10 random teams.

3.                          Example…for a 9-7 team your opponents would be...

    6-10, 7-9, 7-9, 8-8, 9-7, 9-7, 10-6, 10-6, 11-5, 11-5

EXCEPTION: IF there aren’t enough teams to choose separate opponents from each record combination ( due to limited seasons or your team’s   W-L record ), then multiple games vs. the same team at a specific W-L record combination will be substituted.  IF there ARE NO teams at a required W-L combination, the next HIGHEST W-L combination will be used to select teams from.

4.                          As soon as your 10 opponents are generated, they will be posted online at www.darkfather.com under the RUNNING THE GAUNTLET section.  You will receive an e Mail letting you know your schedule is finished.  You must then send Vic and Mike ( e Mail addresses above ) an e Mail with the following information:

a.       opponent ( team ) you wish to play first

b.      days/times you are available to play the match up over the next 7 days

5.                          You can play vs any GOOFBALLS COACH,

6.                           BUT CANNOT PLAY VS THE SAME COACH TWICE.

7.                          You MUST win 10 games in a row to beat The Gauntlet!! (A tie is NOT a win.) (TEAMS FROM A YEAR THAT DID NOT PLAY OVERTIME WILL BE SUBJECT TO THE HOME/AWAY HOME TEAM ERA RULES (see rule #8, #9, AND #10.). You will play every game at home and with HFA ON.  So if you are a non overtime year team at home, you MUST WIN IN REGULATION. If you are an overtime year team, you will get one overtime period. A tie means you failed.

8.                          1980 and before, Penalties, QB end run limits, RB fatigue, LBRC, dump off rule, updated sack rule, do not allow exceeding longest run or reception, no injuries, use home team rules.

9.                          1981 and after, Penalties, QB end run limits, RB fatigue, LBRC, dump off rule, updated sack rule, do not allow exceeding longest run or reception, no injuries, use home team rules. Empty flat = wrong.

10.                      The only rule that the runner can choose to be off or on is the 6 RATED LB RULE. GREAT PLAYER IMPACT RULE ALWAYS OFF

11.                      There are only TWO ways to get your name in The Gauntlet record books. “A”-- Be the coach with the most consecutive wins, or “B”-- Beat The Gauntlet!!

12.                      If you do not surpass the previous Gauntlet Runner’s streak, you will forever be forgotten, you have won nothing!!! (Unless you actually Beat The Gauntlet)

13.                      If….and only if, you beat The Gauntlet, you will have a choice, play on, VS. any teams you wish as long as they have a record equal or better than your team. Once you beat The Gauntlet you will be forever in the record books. This is a chance to see how far you can  stretch your winning streak.

14.                      A $5.00 per Gauntlet Run Attempt fee will go into a pot. 100% of that money (minus the Pay Pal transaction fee) will go to the first  man (or woman) who beats The Gauntlet!!  The fee covers 1 attempt at running the gauntlet ( not 1 game ).  There is no waiting period to try the gauntlet again.

15.                      Payments will be accepted through Pay Pal AFTER the Gauntlet Runner loses a game.  All payments should be made to vartibey@satx.rr.com.  Cashier’s checks, money orders and even Western Union are also viable ways to pay—as long as these payment methods are discussed via e Mail with Vic Artibey ( at the above e Mail address ).
