GAME SUMMARY:

Coach Joe Smith brought the Kentucky Wildcats into BC to try to pull the upset over coach Unruh's Eagles.  Such hopes however were quickly quashed!

Boston College opened the game impressively scoring touchdowns each of the first five times they had the ball.  On their sixth possession, they missed a field goal before adding another td on their seventh possession to take a 42-0 lead into the halftime locker room.

In the third quarter, the Wildcats were able to break into the scoring column with a 45 yard field goal but Boston College extended the lead after three quarters to 49-3.

In the fourth quarter, Kentucky was able to score their one and only td but failed on the 2 pt conversion and Boston College tallied 2 more td's to make the final 63-9 Boston College.

Despite only scoring nine points, Kentucky played pretty well on offense and actually gained more first downs and had more time of possession than the Eagles.  Part of this can be attributed to Boston College's excellent special teams play which included 2 punt returns for tds.  Kentucky's defense on the other hand was completely shredded despite coach Smith's excellent defensive play-calling efforts.  Boston College had a balanced but powerful rushing attack with 3 backs gaining over 80 yards and combining for 347 yards on 29 carries (12.0 yds per carry), and passed for another 162 yards for total offensive production of 509 yards and punted only twice.

GAME SUMMARY:

This one was all Gators from the get go.  The first team was pulled after scoring on their first drive of the second half as Florida wins 45-3.  The first team would have scored TD's on all drives, except a holding call erased one just before the half (with :01 left on the clock) making the Gators settle for a FG.  The second team did nothing to help out the score.  The lone PV A&M points came after Gavin Dickey threw a late INT deep in Gator territory which allowed PV A&M to kick get off the schnyde.....

GAME SUMMARY:

The Cowboys band was busy tonight with a 65 to 10 whitewash of the Golden Eagles of Tennessee Tech. Oklahoma State elected to receive the opening kickoff. From it's own 20 yard line it took a total of 3 plays to score their first TD of the season with an S. Willis 64 yd run right up the middle. OSU holds Tech and works a ground game to a tee of 12 plays ending on an S. Willis 13 yd TD run. PAT missed 13-0 OSU. On Tech's next drive OSU holds and Tech drops the punt at the 5 yd line. Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Don Knight looks to surprise Tech with a long pass to D. Woods and 1 play 95 yds later the score is now 20-0 OSU. On OSU's next drive it took 9 plays for V. Morency to scamper 16 yds for OSU's 4th TD on 4 possessions of the game. With the game pretty much going OSU's way they just start to eat up the clock and running the ball up the middle. With 4:30 left in the 1st half the Cowboy's G. Jones intercepts a Craft pass and goes 44 yds for another TD. The score at the half 34-0. The next score for OSU comes with 8:42 left in the 3rd Qtr a 59yd pass from D. Woods to D. Woods their 2nd long pass for a TD in the game. On their next drive Tech finally gets on the board with a nice drive ending in a 13 yd TD pass from Craft to D. White. Tech kicks the ball to R. Jones and Jones returns the kickoff for an 88yd TD. 48-7 after 3 Quarters. The 4th Qtr was much of the same. OSU got 2 TD's and Tech added a FG for a final score of 65-10.

Tennessee Tech held OSU to pretty much nothing in the 2nd half but OSU was on cruise control running the ball up the middle and Tech just put 8 and 9 guys in the box.

BOXSCORE

GAME SUMMARY:

In a clash of preseason high rollers (Texas A&M (#23) vs. Michigan (#19)), it was a game where statistics don’t necessarily tell the truth.  The Aggies held the ball 15 more minutes than the Wolverines, outrushed them 190-52 yds, outgained them thru the air by another 28yds and were a healthy 10-22 on 3rd downs compared to 4-11 for Michigan.

Penalties (8-70 compared to 6-30) and 2 kickable FGs (30-39) helped give the final score edge to the Wolverines from Michigan.

A&M runningback Courtney Lewis led all rushers with 137 yds on 26 carries.  It was a close game between two very tough teams and two determined coaches.  Michigan led the entire game and no one scored after an A&M FG with 7:12 left in the 3rd QTR.

GAME SUMMARY:

East Carolina got off to a fast start when Travis William ran back a punt 86 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was blocked and the score was 6-0. A seesaw first half battle saw the Pirates leading 16-14 thanks to a last second FG. A promising West Virginia drive to start the 2nd half ended in an interception in the end zone. But then the Pirates fumbled the ball right back to the Mountaineers and Rashead Marshall and Chris Henry hooked up for their 3rd td pass of the game. After a good kickoff return, East Carolina put up a good drive for a td giving them the lead. A 2-point conversion made the score 24-21. West Virginia got 2 tds from Kay-Jay Harris to make the score 35-24 while East Carolina managed a late FG to make the final score 35-27.

Rasheed Marshall had a big day for the Moutaineers, going 20-33 for 328 yards and 4 tds against just 1 pick. Chris Henry was the big target catching 7 balls for 141 yards. The Pirates did a good job shutting down the Mountaineer running game although Kay-Jay Harris managed 86 yards on 17 carries and Marshall managed 24 yards on 4 carries. East Carolina's offense primarily came from Chris Johnson who rushed for 148 yards on 25 carries.

BOXSCORE

GAME SUMMARY:

An exciting opening day of football in Wisconsin as they host Fresno St.
The crowd was silenced early as Fresno St. took the opening drive all the way downfield 71 yards in 10 plays to score on an 11 yard pass from QB Paul Pinegar to Mike Wood and Fresno led early 7-0.
Wisconsin could barely get past midfield until midway thru the 2nd quarter when their kicker Mike Allen blew an easy chip shot from 17 yards out.
Wisconsin held Fresno on the next possession and then proceeded to drive downfield again, only to have Mike Allen blow another FG this time from 34 yards out.
The half ended with Fresno St. still up 7-0.
Wisconsin felt that they were making progress and starting to wear down the Fresno St. defense.
This proved to be correct as Wisconsin took the opening kick of the second half. They drove 95 yards on 10 plays and scored on a 45 yard run by FB Matt Bernstein and knotted the score at 7.
W

Final score: Wisconsin 14 - Fresno St. 10
It was a great hard fought game by both teams.
Fresno St. HB Bryson Sumlin was awarded player of the game in Fresno's losing cause as he ran for 113 yards on 26 carries and was Fresno's leading receiver with 7 catches for 86 yards.
