GINN ELECTRIFIES BUCKEYE CROWD

Oklahoma St came into the HORSE SHOE and gave the Buckeyes a great game. It was a cold day with a steady drizzle keeping the players wet and cold.

The Buckeyes opened the game with an 8 play 54 yard drive that resulted in a 25 yard Nugent FG.

3-0 OHIO STATE

After a Oklahoma St punt, the Buckeyes drove again, this time 80 yards in 7 plays that ended with a 19 yard TD pass from Smith to fullback Brandon Joe.

10-0 OHIO STATE.

Okalahoma St answered with a 9 play 67 yard drive that ended with a 17 yard  mud covered Morency TD run.

10-7 OHIO STATE

An 11 play 83 yard drive by Oklahoma St, after the teams traded punts, ended with a 1 yard TD run by Seymore Shaw.

14-10 OKLAHOMA ST.

Oklahoma St opened the second half with a 6 play 79 yard drive hilighted by a 51 yard pass from Woods to TE Billy Bajema. This drive ended with a 3 yard Run by QB Woods who was being chased by LB A.J.Hawk.

21-10 OKLAHOMA ST. 12:18 3RD QTR.

The Buckeyes then drove to the Ok.St. 27, where on 4th and 1 Smith's pass to Ross fell incomplete.

After only 2 plays the Buckeyes got the ball back as Tyler Everett intercepted Woods' pass to D'juan Woods at the Ohio St. 47. midway through the 3rd QTR.

The Buckeyes could not move the ball and on 3rd and 10, Smiths pass to Hamby fell incomplete. But a late hit on Smith after the throw gave the Buckeyes new life. The drive continued. Two 11 yard passes to Hamby and a 6 yard Pittman run set up Smiths 10 yard TD pass to Pittman with 4:30 left in the 3rd QTR

21-17 OKLAHOMA ST 4:48 3RD QTR.

After trading punts, Oklahoma drove to the Buckeyes 9 and a 1st and goal.

The Buckeyes held them for a FG with 12:00 left in the game.

24-17 OKLAHOMA 12:18 4TH QTR.

Buckeyes from their own 20.......

On 3rd and 3, a 9 yard pass from Smith to Holmes to the Ohio State 36. On 2nd and 1 from the Ok. State 43, Maurice Hall busted loose off tackle for a 34 yard gain to the OK ST. 9.

On 3rd and goal from the 6, Smith hit "HAMBONE" in the endzone for the tieing TD with 7:48 left in the game.

24-24 TIE 8:06 4TH QTR.

After a 40 yard Morency run got Ok St. to the Buckeyes 38, OSU put the clamps on and stopped OK St. On 4th and 2 from the Buckeyes 30, Shawn Willis was stopped for no gain, HAMMERED at the line of scrimmage by A.J.Hawk and the Buckeyes took over with 5:24 left.

Oklahoma St was not budging either and forced a 3 and out.

From their own 23 with 3:54 left, Off sides Buckeyes, Morency for -1, Inc pass to Willis, and on 3rd and 6 Morency was nailed for a 2 yard loss on a draw play by MLB Bobby Carpenter. So with 2:06 to play, from their 25, Oklahoma State had to punt.

An angle punt was pretty much out of the question as the Ohio State kicker was a VERY GOOD long range kicker. Cole Fardens' punt wobbled only 31 yards to the Ohio State 44 where Tedd Ginn Jr. awaited. Through the mud and muck Ginn raced right up the middle of the field for a 66 yard TD return.

FINAL SCORE 31-24  OHIO STATE.

Oklahoma St. got to their own 45 where they faced a 4th and 1 with 0:30 left. Morency was stopped for no gain by David Patterson on an end run.

Ohio State ran out the clock from there.

Ohio State improves to 8-3 with one game remaining. And it looks very unlikely that they will cli! mb to the # 2 spot in the polls. Hopefully a BOWL GAME will be awarded though.

Don called a great game and Ohio States 2nd ranked run defense gave up 159 yards on 41 carries to Ok St.

But the Buckeyes gained 151 on only 30 carries for a 5.0 avg.

Troy Smith completed 20 of 38 passes for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Antonio Pittman 17 carries for 75 yards.

Maurice Hall 9 carries for 74 yards.

Morency 26-113 for Ok. St.

GAME SUMMARY:

---

In a game where statistically everything appears even afterwards... the Aggies seemed to maintain a fairly commanding lead on the scoreboard for most of the game.  Texas A&M led 23-6 until late in the 4th when Ciatrick Fason punched in the sole TD for the Florida Gators.  Chris Leak threw 2 INTs which helped the Aggies in their cause.  Aggie QB Reggie McNeal performed admirably completing 60% of his passes for 213 yds (no TDs and no INTs).  The leagues top rusher broke the century mark vs. the leagues’ #1 run defense but it took 27 attempts (104 yds).

GAME SUMMARY:

West Virginia defeats Wisconsin 33-22 as the Mountaineers got a handful of big plays to build a two score lead. A 56-yard bomb to Chris Henry and a 34-yard ramble by Jason Colson setup two first half WV TDs. In the second half, a 63-yard punt put the Badgers at their own 1 yard line. A sack on a must run on the next play gave WV a safety to make it 19-14. After the free kick, a 47 yard ramble by Bryan Wright setup another TD and a 26-14 WV lead. The teams exchanged late TDs to arrive at the final score. The Mountaineers had 222 yards on the ground on 44 carries, while Wisconsin put up 182 yards on the ground on 41 carries. Aside from the strike to Henry, the passing games were negligible.
