BOXSCORE

GAME SUMMARY:

Going into this one the Boston College coaches knew their best chance of beating Kyle Orton and the Boilermakers was to get ahead early and try to make them one dimensional.  The plan didn't exactly work as Purdue took an early 7-3 lead.  However, Boston College then reeled off 24 unanswered points to take a 27-7 lead into halftime.

Purdue scored early in the third to cut the lead to 27-14 but Boston College answered with their own td in the third and then held on in the fourth to take the win 34-21.  Boston College overcame an incredibly penalty filled performance (11 penalties for 99 yards; hmmm were these ACC (Virginia) officials?!) along the way to the victory.

Turnovers Plague Buckeyes, But Defense Steps Up, 30-21

The Buckeyes took a 14-0 lead on a 12 yard pass from Smith to Holmes and a 72 yard punt return TD by Tedd Ginn Jr. midway through the 1st QTR. After Georgia Tech hit a 36 yard FG, Ohio State cruised to a 28-3 lead with two more scores.

A 2 yard Ginn run just before the half, and a 6 yard run by Lydell Ross with 10:48 left in the 3rd QTR.

After a great OSU punt that pinned GT on it's own 3, the Buckeyes seemed to be in good shape. On 3rd and 12 from their own 1 yard line, the Buckeyes were thinking run draw for sure and brought the safety up and called run.

Lo and behold Reggie Ball went deep to Nate Curry and 99 yards later it was 28-10 OSU.

Thats when the wheels fell off and Jerome had Georgia Techs' defense take charge.

The next three OSU drives ended with fumbles recovered by GT. After the first tow, GT turned them into a 30 yard FG  and a 30 yard pass from Ball to Curry with 12:36 left in the game

28-20 OSU

The Buckeyes then seemed to gain back the lost momentum and drove with ease down the field. 8 plays and 71 yards to the GT 1 yard line. But for the third straight drive, GT forced an OSU fumble. Smith trying to go up the middle for the TD was rocked and lost the ball.

GT managed to get to their own 21 before OSU stopped them.

OSU punted and then Antonio Smith intercepted Balls' last pass.

The Buckeyes drove 29 yards in 10 plays eating up 2:29 off the clock and Nugent kicked a 41 yard FG to put OSU up by nine,

31-20 with 1:15 left.

The Georgia Tech defense did all they could to get the win, but the offense couldnt pull off the comeback. Buckeyes improve to 6-3.

GAME SUMMARY:

Texas A&M takes a 10-0 3rd QTR lead and then tosses it all away allowing the Mountaineers to put up 24 4th QTR points.  The #1 ranked Aggie Run D was SHREDDED for 290 yards on 33 attempts! (that’s a mean 8.8 avg. per carry their Junior!)

Coach Artibey was shocked after everything falling apart so rapidly—especially the collapse of his proud run defense.  “I just don’t know what to think—that’s what I think!”  Aggies lose their 2nd in a row and hopes for #1 are but a faint glimmer, meanwhile Coach Militello’s West Virginia team has risen from the proverbial dead and are now in the thick of the teams.
